Is it a mockumentary or a documentary? It was a question I grappled with as I watched in fascination at the absolutely hilarious and bizarre MISSIONARY POSITIONS by director Bill Day. This was a movie that was really messing with my mind. About a group with a website that brags that it is the "#1 Christian Porn Site," the group has the mottoes of "Porn Sucks" and "Jesus Loves Porn Stars."

Led by Mike Foster and Craig Gross, two young Christian ministers, the group was founded, Mike explained, after God spoke to him in the shower one day, saying the single word "porn." After forming the site (xxxchurch.com), they starting going to porn conventions, setting up their booth between booths advertising porn videos and paraphernalia. These ministers' wives went along, and, dressing in bunny suits, they were frequently groped by the convention attendees. At this point in the picture, I figured that this had to all be a joke. A really, really funny joke, but a joke nonetheless.

To my surprise, although I went back and forth several times while viewing it, I eventually realized this was all for real, with one proof being all of the national television shows they were interviewed on. And these guys really believed in what they were trying to do. They were, however, honest to themselves and many times questioned whether they were doing any good with their ministry.

Along the way, the number of visitors to their site rose and fell based on the media coverage they were getting at the time. Their first commercial, featuring a dwarf actor who said that porn stunted his growth, caused a firestorm of protests from the Little People of America, who forced them to stop running it.

One pornographer named Jimmy D made anti-porn commercial for free for them, featuring "Pete, the porn puppet." Jimmy D turned out to be extremely funny, producing the movie's funniest quote, telling us that "The Bible says that 'Idle hands are the devil's playground," and I make sure guys' hands aren't idle."

Mike and Craig's latest way to promote their site is a two-story high inflatable phallic symbol named "Wally the Wiener." The site tries its best to educate people on why these ministers believe porn is harmful to your health.
