Diamonds in the Sky

Yesterday, after our church gathering the boys, David, Kyle, my son Skylar and I headed off to Tygervalley for some good 'country' fishing! David had discovered a bass dam in the middle of a residential area so we were quite keen to test this baby out. Anyway, after being at the water for a hour or so without much luck, we decided to move to the other side (we thought maybe God's favour might be in that!) and give it another bash.

I was so proud of my boys (nearly 6 years of age) progress, his casting was excellent and he had even had a bite. I was so proud in fact, that I failed to notice that the sky was turning green (here that means only one thing!). The next moment, we heard what sounded like a few fighter jets flying about! I said to the guy next to me, "What the heck is that!?". He said, "I think its hail!" Oh my word! I grabbed our stuff and shouted to Skylar, "Let's go! Run". And it was too late.

We were caught in the middle of one mother of a hail storm! We made it to the car, dropped our bags and rods and jumped in. Skylar was extremely unimpressed, the poor lad! He had received a beating and had a number of mean welts on his back.

Well it didn't end there, after waiting for the hail to leave, we packed our stuff and headed off down the river. Well it was like a river, the roads had become rivers and we had to pull off the road for a while. This all made one big great adventure, especially because we were doing it together! A wonderful end to the long drought in Cape Town!
